Don’t you just love a good freebee?? In my old neighborhood, Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, it’s a thing to leave your unwanted quality goods on the sidewalk for others to take. ”Stoop Sales” are especially big in the spring through fall, I’ve gotten a few good books this way, amongst other things. Well, this score was due to my friend, Staci’s keen eye locating her favorite John Green book, Paper Towns. I didn’t even really pay much attention when she said “oh, someone left a John Green book out here”. But when I came back home hours later, it was still there, abandoned by it’s owner in hopes that someone in the building will take it home, so now it’s all mine!
I have actually only read one John Green book, which is suprising with the geeky circle I run with and many of them Nerdfighters. The only reason I even read this book was because my friend, Elaine, kept telling me that I needed to read his stuff, and then one day, out of the blue, I get a care package from Scotland with The Fault in our Stars. I texted her telling her that she is one sneaky lady, so now I have to read it, don’t I? Her response? Exactly. Well, I read and I cried (in public for that matter, not cool) and I loved. Not sure I qualify as a Nerdfighter, but I guess I am slowly starting…
